Comparing these to the original shafts supplied is an exercise in futility.

Original shafts supplied by Lotus have a tendency to wear through C-clips, as such their inferior design led to premature failures. As the new shafts have a larger “shelf” for the C-clip to sit against, the chances of C-clip failure is drastically reduced. This modification is a near-necessity to prevent welding the input shaft to the crankshaft, as has been the scenario in so many cases. Splines have been precision cut to ensure proper clearance to clutch disc hub and transmission primary shaft, and are the most current “ramp” design to prevent stress fractures  so commonly found in the earlier input shafts.

Description

Up-rated shafts are the final, revised design. They have surface ground noses to suit the pilot bearing sleeve, which has been pre-installed on the front of the shaft. A surface ground mating face ensures smooth contact to the Nylatron thrust washer, should there be any failure around the C-clip.
